I'm reading this very interesting book called Tell Me What to Eat If I Have Headaches and Migraines by Elaine Magee. I would recommend picking this book up from your local library if you are a headache/migraine sufferer. Over the next couple of weeks, I am going to give a couple of highlights from this book that I believe will be very helpful in the battle against headaches and migraines. Especially since, massage therapy is one of the recommended therapies!
I started looking more into headaches and migraines because I wanted to know how to better serve my clients who suffer from this ailment. Some clients say they even get headaches 2-3 times a week! I couldn't imagine living in that type of daily pain. Naturally, as a massage therapist I want to help alleviate pain but I also want to help educate my clients on how to manage or deal with pain. Don't give up!
It's amazing how many people do not know what causes their headaches or migraines. There are various triggers (which we will get to later) which make headaches very individualistic. So my question: how can someone battle an ailment without knowing the cause? Really, you can't...the ailment is definitely winning in this circumstance. However, you do have the power to fight back...with knowledge, stress relief, and nutrition.
